Business Continuity Management
Writing these few words, New Orleans (thanks to experiences from the past) has luckily finished with the evacuation against hurricane Gustav, new school year started in Slovakia and I had to connect to the Internet through my mobile phone because our Internet provider was out of operation. That is the life – one disaster is followed by another, the only chance is prevail over it.
Business continuity planning, disaster recovery planning, crisis planning, contingency planning… A lot of terms for activities, which are different only in details. What those activities are about? What deliverables they provide? Who is responsible for that?
These few questions cause currently headache for number of managers and employees, especially when find relevant answers can be a problem.
The goal of this publication, you have just opened, is to present Business Continuity Management (BCM) in accordance to current international standards. The ambition of authors was explain frequently used terms, describe activities relevant for BCM in accordance to company’s organizational chart.
The content of articles was meticulously selected and assembled to meet requirements of managers and employees (not ICT staff only), help them associate with their roles, identify with responsibilities and generally simplify the BCM implementation into organization.
