Public Key Infrastructure System Weakneses Related to Privacy Protection and ALUCID

This paper deals with a critical analysis of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems when PKI is used repeatedly, in large scale and in the long term. Issues related to privacy protection and personal data management are the main target of the analysis. The second part of the paper briefly describes the new electronic identity solution, ALUCID (Anonymous Liberal and User Centric electronic IDentity). Personal data management and privacy protection using ALUCID is also described. The first real life experiences from the pilot use of ALUCID are described at the end of the paper.
